Past Event in March of 2007:

Khenpo Sherab Ozer

Khenpo Sherab Ozer arrived on Friday March 2 and came by the new Center for the first time. His previous teachings here were at our previous center. We had a small gathering of students to great him and enjoyed having tea and speaking with him on his arrival.

The weekend teachings, March 3 & 4 on the Seven Point Mind Training was very appreciated by all who attended. The teachings were filled with clear and pricise methods of developing the correct view and maintaining that view on a day to day basis. The importance of constant mind training and its affect on our practice was made very clear and the students truly were moved by how relevent and practical this teaching was to our daily lives.

An updated text from the Seven Point Mind Training teachings is available for in pdf file here. It is a two page document.

Pratitioners asked many questions and the discussions centering around the realizations we all aspire to (especially emptiness) helped clear confusions for many.

Khenpo said at the end of the teachings that he is on his way to Tibet for a few years to teach there at the request of Garchen Rinpoche. He told all his students here that he is with us everyday, even when he is away and that he keeps us in his heart and mind always. His love for us was expressed so beautifully that we all felt truly blessed. He said he would be back when he returns from Tibet.

Douglas Duckworth translated for Khenpo, which is always a real treat as his knowledge and dedication to making sure all questions are translated clearly is remarkable. We continue to visualize him coming to Florida (granted selfish motives) or to whatever institution is best for him to teach in a permanent academic position which is his goal. This is an aspiration prayer of many in our Sangha on his behalf and we invite you to add that to your prayer list. His wife, Jasmine, who is a Tibetan treasure that he met while studying in Nepal, is expecting their first child, who is due this June. We thank both Douglas and Jasmine for coming to Gainesville and making this teaching so special for all of us. They are part of our Drikung family and we look forward to seeing them here and at other teachings across the country in the future.
